Going undercover to meet slaves and slaveholders, Kevin Bales shook the world by exposing how modern slavery penetrates the global economy in his Pulitzer-nominated book, Disposable People: New Slavery in the Global Economy.
In this lecture, Bales will speak about his research, what progress has been made in the field and the new challenges that the fight against modern slavery is facing today – as well as the surprising link to climate change.
Kevin Bales is a Professor of Contemporary Slavery at the University of Nottingham, UK, Co-Founder of Free the Slaves in Washington, D.C. and is Lead Author of the Global Slavery Index.
